What is "Shike"?
Shike" means silk threads drawn from silkworms.
Shike-biki is a technique of drawing delicate striped patterns on fabric with a comb-like brush. Japanese paper is dyed with dyestuffs as it is, and "shikebi" is done on the fan surface by skilled craftsmen.
